Caledonia "Memories and Other Stories"
Something exciting is coming to the Caledonia Archives!
As we endeavor to bring you as much of Caledonia's history as possible, we're happy to announce the addition of two Caledonia favourites: one from today, and one from days gone by, plus something entirely new!
Each Monday, we'll be bringing you a complete column by Leslie T. Richardson. Les' columns, published weekly in the Grand River Sachem beginning in 1980 and ending in the early 1990s, were controversial to say the least. Many criticized the "facts" that Les presented- but he was quick to counter that his writings were merely memories, and therefore subject to slight confusions. Regardless, Les' column: "Memories and Other Stories" developed a loyal following.
Each Friday, we'll bring you one of Barbara Martindale's ever-popular "For What It's Worth" columns. Barbara comes from a newspaper family- her husband and father-in-law were co-publishers of the Grand River Sachem for several years. After the sudden death of Barbara's husband, Chester Martindale, Barbara took a more active role in the newspaper. "For What It's Worth" gives a glimpse into Barbara's immense knowledge of the history of Caledonia and area.
Along with these two favourites, we'll bring you a publication each Wednesday which looks into the research and memories of Ian D. Thompson, U.E.- creator and proprietor of the Caledonia Archives.
We sincerely hope that you'll enjoy these three-time weekly publications. As always we appreciate your contributions, comments, and suggestions for the Caledonia Archive. Happy researching!
Ian D. Thompson, U.E.
